I spent years as a project manager before I became a developer. That means I speak both languages — I understand what clients mean, and I understand what developers build. The gap between those two is where most projects go wrong.
You don't need to know what tech stack you need, or whether you need an app or a website, or how the database should be structured. That's my job.
A client came to me wanting an encryption program. Before I started writing a single line of code, I asked: why not just zip the files and put a password on them?
Because, they explained, they didn't want anyone to even see the file names, file extensions — let alone the contents. They were moving sensitive data between two workstations on a USB drive, and they needed it to be completely unreadable to anyone without the key.
That's a different problem. And it led to a different solution. That conversation is how Secret Vault was born — a desktop app with AES-256 encryption, no cloud, no account, no installation required. It runs silently, encrypts everything including filenames and extensions, and fits on the same USB drive as the files it protects.
If they had come to me with a technical brief, they might have asked for the wrong thing. Instead, we talked — and built exactly what they needed.

The process
Consultation
You describe the problem. I ask questions. No sales pitch, no NDAs to sign before we even talk. We agree on exactly what gets built, what it will cost, and when it will be done — in writing.
Sample / First draft
You see something working early — not a mockup, an actual prototype. A real screen you can click through, a real page you can open. Feedback is much easier when there's something real in front of you.
Changes
You tell me what doesn't feel right. Layout, wording, flow, features — anything. This is the stage where we shape the product around how you actually work, not how I assumed you work.
Fixes & testing
Edge cases, mobile layout, slow connections, error messages — everything gets tested before it leaves my desk. If something breaks after delivery I fix it, no charge.
Documentation
A written guide covering how to use the system, how to add users, what to do if something goes wrong, and how to contact me. Written for humans, not developers.
Handover
Full source code, all credentials, hosting access — everything transfers to you. You're not renting software from me. You own it outright. I stay available for questions, but you're never dependent on me.

When the browser gets in the way.
Some workflows are better as a desktop app. Offline access, direct file system integration, hardware control, or just a tool that opens instantly without a login page.
I build desktop tools with Python and Tkinter, or extend and fix existing Microsoft Access databases that have grown beyond their original purpose. If you have an Access file held together with prayers and one person who knows where everything is — I can stabilise it, rebuild it, or migrate it to something more robust.

Slow queries, corrupted Access files, a database that made sense three years ago but now nobody understands — these are fixable problems that don't always require starting from scratch.

There's no authorised repair centre on Koh Phangan. When your laptop dies the morning of a deadline, you need someone who can actually help — not a shop that will ship it to the mainland for three weeks.
I help with Windows reinstalls, software troubleshooting, virus removal, driver issues and general "it stopped working" problems. Android devices too. I don't touch Apple products — not out of principle, just out of honesty about where my expertise actually is.
